The Autumn Salon
If I would go through my greatest achievements as a photographer there is one thing that stands out; that time I joined the exhibition Autumn Salon at Fotografiska in Stockholm.
Fotografiska’s Autumn Salon has established itself as a tradition that holds up a mirror to our times. With its wealth of expressions, emotions and techniques, the exhibition captures the Zeitgeist and presents a kind of collective, subconscious reflection of contemporary currents, comprising everything from personal photographic projects developed over time, to professional photographers who use the camera as a tool in their artistic practices. - Fotografiska
The Autumn Salon at Fotografiska is the largest juried exhibition of Swedish photography. It is a tribute to Sweden’s photographers, established as well as amateurs, open to everyone who resides in Sweden.
When the exhibition took place time I had only been working as a professional photographer for a year and when it was confirmed I was one of the applicants that would exhibit, this made me feel comfortable in the choices I had taken and that the time I had invested in photography was worth it. To see my photographs hang on the walls at Fotografiska and to be a part of that context, gave me the courage to keep going. And for that, I will always be grateful.
If I would advise new photographers, I would say that you should scout for exhibitions nearby, in your country or on a global scale. This is a great opportunity for you to grow as a professional. You will have the opportunity to present your art in a favourable context and connect with other professionals and influential persons within the area that could have considerable meaning in your future work.
